Yahoo to shutdown Game, Livetext and more

Yahoo has revealed that it will be shutting down some its products. The list includes Yahoo Games, Yahoo Livetext, its regional media properties and others. The company has taken this decision in order to streamline its business.
The tech giant announced this decision via Tumblr post, saying that it will now focus on its seven core consumer products. The seven products include Mail, Search, Tumblr, News, Sports, Finance and Lifestyle.
The Yahoo Games site and publishing channel will shut down on May 13, 2016. The consumers who have made in-game purchases will now have to contact the game publisher for the various options they have for transferring the same. The company further added that it has asked game publishers to devise a transition plan for the players.
On the other hand, the Yahoo Livetext app launched last year, enabled users to users to send videos without sound. The company also claimed that it was a faster form of video communication. Yahoo has now said that it is shutting down the app, and its essential features will be incorporated in Yahoo Messenger.

Along with this, Yahoo is also closing its regional, genre-specific media properties in order to simplify its editorial offerings. The company will now majorly focus on four content areas namely news, sports, finance and lifestyle.

Yahoo will also shut down its Astrology service in UK, France, Germany, Spain and India.
